Many weeks before the 9th Martial Arts Confrontation MMA media in Poland have already proclaimed the show as the best in history. The internet was buzzing with headlines about upcoming event. It was caused by the prestigious cast of the tournament entitled ?The Return of the Champions? and a stacked line-up in the extra fights. The promoters invited the best fighters from Poland and abroad to enter the eight-man competition. Yusuke Masuda (Japan), Aziz Karaoglu (Turkey), Vitor Nobrega (Brazil), Olexiy Oliynik (Ukraine) and Martin King Kong Zawada were set to face the Polish team which consisted of Danie Kociao Dowda, Jan Blachowicz and returning from the two-year layoff Antoni Chmielewski. After exciting quarter- and semi-finals Blachowicz and Karaoglu squared off in the last bout. The Pole took home the victory with a first round armbar submission. Fight thrills alternated between the tournament bouts and the extra fights. In the latter ones Maciek Gorski dropped a controversial split decision to Edvardas Norkeliunas, while Mamed Khalidov easily tapped Vadlas Pocevicius avenging one of his early career losses. The main attraction of the night featured Polish MMA pioneer Grzegorz Jakubek Jakubowski retirement fight. He was scheduled against Bulgarian Jordan Radev. The bout itself and especially Jakubek?s performance let the Warsaw?s crowd down. Radev dominated the every aspect of the game and was awarded the deserving judges decision. However, you have to pay homage to Jakubowski, who built our love and fascination with MMA throughout his long tenure in the sport. The event once again proved to be a huge show with a maximal dose of adrenaline.
